Easy challenges!

After a few weeks, my son was fast. Too fast.
4 + 3 took him a second. The sums were no longer a pause. Just a tap on the way back to his tablet.
So I made them harder. Bigger numbers first, like 38 + 25. Then multiplication, like 7 × 8.
Each time, he caught up. And each time, I had to change the app again by hand.
Then I asked a different question. Why should I decide the difficulty?
The time he spent on the tablet could decide it.
A few minutes, and the next problem stays easy. A long session, and it gets harder. Take a real break, and it gets easier again.
That’s progressive difficulty. The challenge follows the habit, not a setting.
I no longer had to adjust anything. The app grew with him.
