PlugBrain as a teaching example

A whiteboard titled Modern Android Dev Courses, with a PlugBrain phone drawn next to the title.

In 2025 I was training students at a non-profit association.

I wanted to teach them how real mobile apps are built: good practices, working as a team, managing a project, tests and CI/CD.

For that, I needed an example.

Most courses use a to-do list. Students have seen hundreds of them.

So I picked PlugBrain.

It was small enough to understand in a few days, and real enough to have real users.

I opened issues on GitHub for the students, so they could learn by fixing real problems.

I hoped many of them would jump in. Only about one in ten tried to contribute.

That taught me something too. Writing code is one step. Daring to open someone else’s project is another.

Still, that summer PlugBrain stopped being only my app. It became a place to learn.
